DIAGNOdent 2095

The DIAGNOdent 2095 is a LASER caries detection instrument. The device detects fluorescence of a chromophore which is a surrogate marker that correlates with the grade of caries development. In English, what it does is it detects tooth decay by being able to find the by-products of tooth decay using a LASER beam. Current research shows that it is 75% more accurate than using a dental explorer (the traditional "sharp stick" method).
